Model and actress Lisa Ray ties the knot today with her banking executive beau Jason Dehni at the gorgeous Napa Valley in California. Lisa’s beauty mesmerised millions when she appeared in the video of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s song Afreen Afreen and thereafter the half Bengali half Polish beauty appeared in several tele shows, ad campaigns and acted in films like Kasoor and Water.
Today is her day and I’m sure she wouldn’t have to try very hard to look her best, for the stunning 40-year-old is in love.
Her wedding gown has been designed by celebrated designer and long time pal Wendell Rodricks. Wendell gifted the gown to her and had this to say about the gown to me: “Lisa came to Goa for a fitting over a month ago and was thrilled with the gown. She wore it for a few friends and they all were in tears. Lisa is such a beautiful soul that this dress simply enhances her radiance. I have stuck to my minimalist style of design with a bit of embroidery. The gown comes with the traditional veil and blusher. She will shine and the dress will merely be a prop to make her the radiant bride she will be. I kept three things in mind when we did the design: romantic, dreamy and sparkling with light. I am sure will make a beautiful bride and Jason will be in tears at the vision that approaches him down the aisle.”
Awww. That almost had me in tears.
Here’s a picture that Wendell sent me. It has Lisa and him sailing down the Mandovi river in Goa.
In the evening, Lisa will change into a Satya Paul (SP) off-white georgette sari with beige and traditional ‘gota patti’ work blending with shaded sequins on the border paired with a net blouse embellished with brocade and gotta patti on the back and sleeves. Pallavi Das, Head of Design Studio, Satya Paul, says, “As a bridal cocktail saree, it is contemporary and does not have a heavy order. Lisa embodies the SP woman; one who is beautiful both inside and out, and a woman who knows her mind when it comes to fashion and style. As per her choosing SP, it’s the perfect meeting of two beautiful entities. Lisa is an icon of feminity, and has risen abover her difficulties with grace. It was natural for Satya Pal to associate with such a strong and beautiful woman. We are proud of the stylish partnership.”
Here’s a sketch of what the saree looks like.
For Jason, Lisa wanted a classic Raghavendra Rathore bandhgala instead of the usual black tuxedo. Incidentally, Lisa’s father will also wear a Rathore bandhgala. “Ms. Ray requested for a classic look. We suggested a black Jodhpuri classic Bandhgala suit, cut very close to the body,” Rathore told me.
Below is a sketch of the bandhgala the bridegroom will be wearing from the designer himself.
