I met the gorgeous Esha Gupta at the launch of the second Splash store in Bangalore about ten days ago. While there were whispers in the crowd about how she’s being touted as India’s answer to Angelina Jolie because of her pout, I found the emerging star looking elegant in a beige and black short sweetheart neck accessorised cleverly with a gold and turquoise cocktail ring. I had a little fashion chat with the actress, who made a sparkling debut with Jannat 2 and went on to rock the Bollywood scene with the recently released Raaz 3D. Hope you take something from her book of style.
Five essential wardrobe staples in Esha’s wardrobe: Coloured jeans, coral, blues and greens, nice white ganjee and a denim shirt, a nice watch and a really nice scarf because you can add scarf with everything.
Fashion forward to Esha means: Stepping out with a smile. What matters most is wearing everything with a smile and confidence and always being comfortable in what you are wearing. It’s not about the brands.
Esha’s style mantra: I like wearable clothes because then you are not trying too hard and still looking fashionable.
A fashion no no: Too much accessories. I hate it when women wear chunky earrings and bangles and belt and god knows what else. I just think there should be just one element.
The shopaholic’s confession: I have everything from belts to bags and heels in brands and even from the street shops. It doesn’t matter whether you are wearing something worth Rs 500, 5000 or 50,000. If you’re wearing something worth Rs 50,000 only twice a year, what’s the point? If you have spent so much money, wear it every day. I go with the quality and the style, not the brand.
Well heeled: I’m a heels person. I love wearing heels, I travel wearing them. I can’t sleep wearing heels. Otherwise I would have.
The best fashion advise: No one has given me any fashion advise and thank god for that because it means I have never gone wrong!
My style advise to fans: Always go easy. Wear what you want to. Don’t follow trends and wear easy clothes.
