In the first week of November, there was quite a flutter at our Bangalore office. Since neither Kannada Rajyotsava nor Bakrid had evoked such passion earlier, a few were curious. It turned out that a high end fashion brand was launching its store in Bangalore, and our office fashionistas couldn’t wait to indulge in almost 18000 square feet of shopping therapy. That is probably a reflection of the excitement that’s brewing in the fashion space in India now, and because we at Myntra are among those at the vanguard of this movement, the enthusiasm is more palpable here.
We now have people in office walking around sporting the latest apparel and accessories from the trendiest brands, as if they were going out of fashion. Actually, they are, and we know that because we’ve been part of this amazing journey towards becoming India’s top fashion and lifestyle e-commerce site. Every day, for the last few months, we’ve been learning the nuances of Spring-Summer and Autumn-Winter collections, new concepts on styles and trends, what to wear and when, sleeves and cuts and sizes and so on. Doesn’t that show in our latest television ad? Somewhere along the line, we even learned to spell couture right, and figured out that color blocking had nothing to do with racism. But really, such has been the experience that we felt that we must share all this with you.
We also realised that despite the deluge of international fashion brands into the country, fashion is still the domain of a select few and we’ve miles to go before we can all call ourselves fashion conscious. The mails and comments we get, asking for fashion tips, is a testament to that. So, considering that we’ve chosen to play a role in this long ramp walk, and will make it our business to be updated on the latest that fashion has to offer, we’d like to invite you to this blog which exists to bring to you the latest global and local fashion news, views, trends, styles, tips, and so on, all in a bid to truly democratise fashion.
